With over a month since the online admission process for the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai got underway, students have complained that the institute’s website did not confirm their admission status though they had paid the fee and completed all formalities.
Denying any glitch in the system, the institute said that the bank had failed to update the details of the payment on the official website for three days after the fees were paid.
In the second phase of admission, IDOL has decided to grant admission to students on producing the counterfoil of the bank challan.
“The rules said that we have to download the bank chalan, fill in the details, take a printout and then pay at the designated bank. However, even after making the payment when we checked our admission status, the website showed ‘unpaid’ against our application,” said Sunil Gorhe, a student.
To provide a hassle-free admission process, IDOL had also set up 21 centers to ensure that students could fill and submit their application forms.
“We have instructed our staff to accept the counterfoil of the bank challan and issue the study material to the students as the bank has said that it will not be able to upload the data on a daily basis,” said Dr D. Harichandan, director IDOL.
He added that they had ensured that such problems do not occur in the second phase of admission that will go on till September 18.
