The Madras high court has upheld the appointment of Justice R. Regupathy, retired judge of the court, as president of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
A division bench of Justices K.N. Basha and N. Paul Vasanthakumar dismissed the petition filed by Vijalakshmi Shanmugam, challenging the appointment of Justice Regupathy.
The court also pulled up the petitioner for making remarks against Justice Regupathy and Chief Justice M.Y. Eqbal.
“It is very unfortunate that the petitioner, who claims to be an advocate practicing in this chartered high court, and who has been considered as an officer of the court, has come forward with unwarranted and contemptuous comments and remarks,” said the bench.
