As the lines of a popular song go, “When a heart breaks, no, it don’t break even.” Does love last forever? Or do people outgrow love and ride off into the sunset with a stranger?
Most youngsters today love the idea of being in love and they enjoy dating. But in many cases, love doesn’t always translate into marriage. Take Priya Kumar for instance. The high school sweethearts were inseparable for six years, until it was time to go forward and take the next big step – Marriage. She says, “When I told him to talk to my parents about marriage, at first he was hesitant and asked for more time. A few days later, he told me that he was going to settle for an arranged marriage to please his ageing parents.” Is puppy love only good as long as one is dating through school or college? Sneha Shekar, a model says, “I think it’s really stupid of people to walk out of long-term relationships when you’ve spent a good part of your life with that person.” There are some youngsters who affirm that they ‘will marry for love,’ but finally settle for an arranged marriage. Suresh C comments, “I was in love with a girl for ten years. But as the years went by, we both disagreed a lot and we broke up. I’m now engaged to a girl my parents picked out.”
