Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu is in a fix whether to release the Telangana letter before hitting the road on a 117-day padayatra from October 2 or wait till his return after January 26.
Mr Naidu has to decide whether to release the letter before his padayatra or wait for the UPA to lift the existing cloud over the separate statehood demand.
While Telangana TD For-um convener E. Dayakar Rao insists that the T-letter will be released before Mr Naidu’s padayatra even as Seemandhra MLAs and leaders urged him to rethink on the issue.
“Discussions are still on regarding the Telangana letter. We will release it at an appropriate time,” Mr Naidu said.
Though there were speculations that the letter wou-ld be released by Hyderab-ad Liberation Day on Septe-mber 17, party sources say it could be postponed till after his return from the padayatra.
The Assembly Session will be on from September 17 to 22 and the TD general body meeting is scheduled for September 24.
It is learnt that some party leaders have suggested that the issue of the letter should be discussed at the party meeting on September 24 before it is sent to the Centre. “T-letter may be welcomed in Telangana, but sparks may fly in Seemandhra. It will be embarrassing if there are protests over the letter during his padayatra,” a senior TD leader said.
