Even as Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live does the rounds of the film festival circuit, an interesting bit of information about the film is now known to us. A source revealed that in a landmark deal of sorts, a television channel has offered Aamir Rs 10 crore to buy the satellite rights of the film.
“The channel has offered Rs 10 crore for the satellite rights of the film, which is more than what it cost to make the film, including the projected expenditure on its promotion and release. And no, it’s not merely because the film is produced by Aamir. People at the channel are believed to have seen the film, loved it and made the offer after that,” the source says.
Aamir is now also contemplating adding a song for the end credit titles of the film, the source added. Peepli Live, directed by debutante Anusha Rizvi, has been extensively shot in Barwai, a village some 60 km from Bhopal. The film has received much acclaim on the festival circuit. It premiered at the prestigious Sundance film festival recently.
