An engineer was stabbed to death by an owner of a dog for running his car over his pet in Karaikudi in Sivagangai district.
Balasubramanian, 37, a civil engineer and DMK former youth wing deputy organiser of Sakkottai union, was returning home in his car on Monday night.
He ran over a dog on the street. The dog died but Balasubramanian drove home without stopping. Police said the owner of the pet, Periyannan, 55, went to Balasubramanian's house. In an inebriated state, he drew a knife and stabbed the engineer. He was later arrested.
