TJAC convener M. Kodandaram said the committee chose Tank Bund-Necklace Road as the venue over Jubilee Hills. He said the march would be peaceful and asked the government to allow the march to be held without any hindrance. “Our slogan is ‘Chetiko Jhanda, Intiko Manishi’ (one flag, one person from each hou-sehold). I appeal to every family to ensure at least one member participates in the march,” he said.
“We will be approaching the police commissioner for permission. If we are not given any permission, we will go ahead,” the TJAC chairman said. The T-leaders met home minister Sabita Indra Reddy later in the evening and requested her to permit the march. She requested them once again to postpone the march, but they turned her down. Former TNGOs leader Swamy Goud said if the government thwarted the march or indulged in highhandedness, they would block the international biodiversity meet, COP-11, which begins on Oct. 1. T Employees JAC secretary Srinivas Goud said, “If any violence takes place we will not be responsible.”
