Endowments minister C. Ramachandraiah on Sunday said that if the Congress neglects or undermines the services of erstwhile Praja Rajyam president and Congress MP K. Chiranjeevi, it would certainly experience a bitter taste in the state.
The present condition and vote bank of Congress among the people is not up to the expected level and if Chiranjeevi was sidelined, the image of the ruling party will fall drastically, the minister said.
Interacting with mediapersons at Vakulamatha temple in Perur village near Tirupati, Ramachandraiah said, “I hope the Congress high command would consider the request of Chiranjeevi with regard to filling up of nominated posts in the state. As of now, the Congress stand is up to our level of satisfaction. We hope this will continue in the future. Chiranjeevi is getting recognition from the state Congress and the central government.”
Expressing his opinion on the present political scenario, the minister said that the Congress has to take corrective steps on a war footing to strengthen the party, especially to safeguard the local functionaries at all places.
However, preventive steps were needed to avoid party functionaries from jumping to other political parties, the endowments minister said.
“If any of the party cadres or leaders want to go to some other parties, the high command and the state Congress leadership should act in time and convince them to stay back in the party,” Ramachandraiah said.
The minister also expressed his anguish saying that after the merger of the Praja Rajyam into the Congress, there was no proper coordination between the two sides and this should be looked into, immediately.
