Gearing up for the desi stint

They have been the force behind the wheels. But recently the racing drivers, Nico Hülkenberg and Paul DiResta geared up to show off their fashionable sides too. The two turned into fashion icons off the track as they styled models in formal and casual styles with the Hackett Autumn-Winter 12 collection at DLF Emporio Mall.

While the two were busy selecting the right jacket to pair with the trousers and choosing a tie to go with the shirt, Paul insists that his favourite outfit is the uber casual jeans and T-shirt. However, Nico is quick to add that he has always been interested in fashion. And lately, since his stint with the Sahara Force India team, it’s the Indian men’s attire that has been fascinating him. “Indian men dress up in very interesting and individualistic style. I have heard about the high neck (bandhgala) jackets and I think I should try that out,” says Nico.
The two are busy focusing on making their India Grand Prix special and aiming for a good performance. They haven’t been around the city much. Though they have a few places to visit marked on their busy calendar. And of course, topping the chart is Taj Mahal. “We have heard so much about it that we are very keen to see it,” says Paul. However, before that the duo is off to India Gate, and they expect to be an exciting place.
“Delhi looks a bit chaotic, though it is colourful and very vibrant. We haven’t had the time to explore much and are always busy travelling from one venue to another,” says Nico.
The duo says they are not aware about the craze for cricket in India, but Paul believes that motorsport is gaining popularity. The last two seasons have been quite successful and it should only get better with time, he says. “Awareness is the key to any sport’s popularity. And since there is so much action and glamour associated with Formula One races, they always attract young people. With each passing season, audience here is understanding the sport better,” says Paul.
Being a part of Force India, they say, has been great since they have got a lot of support. The two want to make the Formula One special for the city. The races begin on Sunday and the Indian outfit is at seventh number at present. This time they are hoping to make it to the sixth place!
