'I've got another nine years in me," says Jeev Milkha Singh

Indian veteran Jeev Milkha Singh Wednesday gave himself nine years to win a Major after returning to the top 100 on the back of one of the biggest wins of his career.

Singh, 41, said India's improving players were getting closer to winning a Major trophy, and he hoped to have one in the cabinet by the time he turns 50.

"I think we're close. I think it all depends on week to week and if you're having a good week and you're mentally strong that week. It could be any time," he said ahead of the Barclays Singapore Open, which he won in 2008.

"I think these guys are strong enough to win tournaments anywhere in the world. They're playing well and my goal obviously is that before my golfing career is over, I would like to win a Major championship.

"I feel like I've got another nine years in me. I'm 41 and hopefully I'll do that... my favourite which I personally would like to win would be the Masters."

The world number 95 battled through the pain barrier to win the Scottish Open in July on the first play-off hole against Francesco Molinari, a victory that earned him a spot at the British Open.

Singh went into the play-off buoyed by tea, cake and painkillers, after hurting a finger on his right hand when he jarred a club into the ground during the second round. He said the injury is still not fully healed.

"I took painkillers and went ahead to win the Scottish Open because the golfing gods were kind to me. Had some chocolate cake at the player's lounge and after that, got into the Open Championship," he said.
