[1]The BMTF on Wednesday issued notices on three people, including Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar, for alleged denotification of land in favour of a beneficiary.
Notices have been sent to former Housing minister Es. En. Krishnaiah Setty and former principal secretary to chief minister, Mr V. P. Baligar, who have been directed to appear before BMTF on Thursday.
Following a complaint by RTI activist, Mr Dinesh Kallahalli, an FIR was registered under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and CrPC. Mr Kallahalli had alleged violation of rules in ordering for return of 4.2 acres allotted to the Karnataka Slum Development Board to one Mr K. Gopinath, the brother of RSS functionary K. Narahari.
The complainant alleged that in 1982, 4.20 acres of land on Survey No. 19/2 in Laggere belonged to K. Gopinath. When construction of houses was in the final stage, the government, led by former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa, took the decision to denotify land. The Karnataka Slum Development Board (KSDB) took objection to the decision stating that it was against the interests of the economically weaker sections. Despite a high court order that said the land belonged to the government, the 4.2 acres was denotified in 2009 to favour Mr Narahari, he claimed.
