The 32nd India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan that kicked off in the capital yesterday, is not just about consumer and business related products, it is also a hotspot for youngsters. There will be a rock show by Ficci, fashion designers from different coutries showcasing their designs, cultural activities and a new mobile application to help navigate from hall to hall.
“Our theme is ‘Skilling India’ and we want to attract youngsters. A rock show by the band Eternal Bliss could just be the thing for youth,” says Pooja Gianchand, director for skills development at Ficci.
“While South Africa is the focus country at IITF, Pakistan is also presenting its cuisine and high-end fashion wear,” says Daler Singh, general manager at IITF.
Other cultural activities include state day celebrations, music, dance recitals of classical and semi classical genre, theatre workshops, street plays and puppet shows.
Close to 6,000 exhibitors are participating this year. “Navigation is always a problem. So, we have introduced an app that can be downloaded on phone and will update visitors about what’s happening where,” adds Daler.
“Merchants and artisans from 21 countries, including Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Turkey and Czech Republic, are also participating,” says ITPO chairperson-cum-managing director Rita Menon.
The fair will be open to the general public from November 19 to 27. Around 20 lakh visitors are expected to visit the fair, adds Menon.
