[1]Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne waded into the raging debate over utilizing home advantage, disagreeing with Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s views of providing rank turners at home.
“We never spoke to a grounds man in Australia.
They (pitch curators) feel proud of their job and take pride in producing good cricket wickets. It is up to them to prepare wickets as they know their job well,” said Warne, who is down here as part of the commentary panel for the second Test.
“Players have to adapt to all the conditions and find other ways to take wickets if wicket is not doing much. There should be good contest between bat and ball,” added the Ausie, who joined ESPNStar Sports presentation team.
“(The) ball turns anyhow in Indian conditions. I don’t think Dhoni might have influenced the grounds man, he may be playing mind games to put doubts in opponent’s minds,” he added.
Warne will head back to Australia after the second Test to captain Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash but will be back when Australia come down for the series.
Warne also praised Dhoni for his captaincy skills but felt he needs to win abroad as well.
