Actor Sonam Kapoor is known for her innovative sense of style and fashion sensibility. We recently caught up with Sonam at a book launch event in the capital.
Asked about the importance of critics in her life, the actress said they play an important role in honing her skills as an actor. “I honestly feel we need each other. In the end, you need a referee to judge your performance. You need a perspective, which might be different from your’s. A review is needed to improve you, but that does not mean a critic should be biased while judging a film,” she added.
Sonam is known for carrying herself with a lot of panache. So how does she go about selecting a dress for a particular occasion? “I am very spontaneous when it comes to dressing. I love experimenting with my looks. I like something that is girly, sophisticated and fun at the same time. I believe in maintaining individualism,” she said.
Anil Kapoor’s pretty daughter Sonam says her idea of “classic beauty with brains” is defined by the divas of yore. “I simply adore Waheeda Rehman — from her acting to her choice of films. It needed guts to choose movies like Pyaasa or Guide. She went ahead with it,” she said.
The actor is busy shooting for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Anand L. Rai’s Raanjhnaa.
Sharing about her current read, Sonam said, “I am reading Anna Vetticad’s The Adventures of an Intrepid Film Critic. It has kept me hooked.”
