An unbeaten 51 from Kapil Tomar helped Chiranjiv Bharati School of Gurgaon beat hosts Pathways World School (Aravallis) by four wickets with just four deliveries to go in a Group P match in the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament on Sunday.
Chiranjiv Bharati School’s bowlers, led by Sagar Jhangia and Arun Kataria, who both returned figures of 2/18, did well to restrict Pathways to 112/5 in 20 overs. Gurphateh Peerzada anchored the home team’s innings with a knock of 34 to set Chiranjiv Bharati School an asking rate of 5.65 runs per over for victory.
Tomar’s innings was crucial to the visiting team’s effort to set up a clash with Delhi Public School (Sushant Lok) for a place in the pre-quarter-final stage.
The home side bowlers tried to restrict Chiranjiv Bharati School but with only Akshay Singh making dents, it was not enough.
Scores: Group P: Pathways World School 112/5 in 20 overs (Gurphateh Peerzada 34, Sagar Jhangia 2/18, Arun Kataria 2/18) lost to Chiranjiv Bharati School 114/6 in 19.2 overs (Kapil Tomar 51 not out, Akshay Singh 2/24)
