‘Sonam Kapoor is a perfect clotheshorse’

As Sonam’s Kapoor-Abhay Deol starrer Aisha is taking baby steps towards its release, the film continues to pile on great reviews about its classy chic look. All thanks to Ayesha Depala, the official designer of Aisha, who was picked by Sonam herself.
A favourite among the fashionistas of Mumbai, Delhi and Dubai, Ayesha has had her hands full with preparations for the HDIL fashion week and of course Aisha.
“I met Sonam at the Dubai festival some time back and we hit it off very well. We have similar likes and dislikes. When I showed her my collection she fell in love with it,” she says.
Few months after their meeting Ayesha got a call from Rhea Kapoor who asked her if she’d be interested in designing for Aisha. “They briefed me about the movie and the project seemed very exciting. I was also looking forward to working with Sonam Kapoor. It’s my first film and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” says Ayesha.
The designer is all praises for Rhea and Sonam for their clarity in style sensibilities. “The costumes had to be those of a modern stylish woman, who is relatable, believable and yet high on fashion. I was also asked to adhere to my signature style that is feminine and ethereal, and is incorporated in most my designs.”
Sonam Kapur’s impeccable style has earned her many admirers and Ayesha is no exception. “Sonam Kapoor is absolutely the perfect clotheshorse! She exudes grace and style, and she suits my designs perfectly. She is feminine, strong and someone who has just got it! I adore her,” she says.
Speaking further about the movie, Ayesha says, “It’s an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma and Sonam and Lisa Haydon’s characters are very much in tune with the original book. Sonam plays a beautiful woman whose life’s agenda is to be a matchmaker, while Lisa is this shy demure ingénue, who is a diamond in the rough, who becomes Sonam’s pet project of turning her from a withering wallflower into a beautiful object of desire.”
As of now Ayesha can’t wait for the release so that she can see her handiwork.
