While city music buffs are all excited to host music legends Guns N’ Roses, DJ Sidharth Talwar is working overtime on his console for the visit of the gods of rock. After all, Sid will be doing the opening gig for the international band, and his performance has to be up to the mark.
Talking about the kind of music he is preparing for the big day, the DJ, who has also done the opening gigs for icons like Korn, Carlos Sanatan and Boy George, says, “I would be mixing rock music with other sounds, making a fusion with dubstep, trance, house and break beat. I will definitely amalgamate world music with a pinch of Indian sounds. Lately, I have been using samples of Ustad Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ustad Zakir Hussain,” says Siddarth, who’s the in-house DJ of Café Morrison.
He also plans to use samples from GN’R’s previous guitarist, Slash’s compositions.
“For each show, there are different audiences with varied mindsets, so the music I play has to be completely fresh and different from what I have played in the past. There is a huge fan following for Slash and playing a bit of him would be a good tribute to him,” he says.
Delhi has been hosting many music icons lately. Talking about the evolving music scene of the city, he says, “Constant supply of electronic and rock concerts in a short span of time is something alluring that has been happening here. Also, increase in the number of fests has been a treat for music buffs.”
