It’s not merely cricket pundits and spectators who are raising questions about batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar’s form. People from the league of his new avatar — member of Parliament — have started questioning his form in parliamentary jargon. The President had recently nominated Mr Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha.
Joining the bandwagon, a UPA minister ridiculed his performance in the ongoing Test series against England. The latest dig at the cricketer, who scores just 2 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test in Nagpur, came from former sports minister Ajay Maken, who has now taken over as housing and urban poverty alleviation ministry. He made a sarcastic comment about Mr Tendulkar in parliamentary jargons. As the batting maestro’s misery continued, Mr Maken tweeted: “MP Sachin Tendulkar adjourns the innings and stages a walkout moments after coming to the crease these days.”
Mr Tendulkar, whose Test career might on the line after a string of poor scores, appeared ill at ease and was beaten twice by the sudden turn extracted by his nemesis in the series — left-arm spinner Monty Panesar — but it was James Anderson who got his wicket for a record ninth time.
