The CBI, jointly investigating the 2007 Ajmer blast case with Rajasthan anti-terrorist squad, recently took Devendra Gupta, prime suspect in the Ajmer blast, to Kolkata, Ranchi, Asansol, Jamtara (Jharkhand), Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Dang (Gujarat) to ascertain his linkages with top leaders of right-wing outfits.
Sources in the agency said that Devendra Gupta reportedly told his interrogators that he was provided logistic support allegedly by senior local leaders of the right-wing outfits in Ranchi, Kolkata, Asansol and Jamtara during his stay in 2006.
He was provided funds for purchasing mobile phones and SIM cards by leaders of right wing outfits of Ranchi and Kolkata, sources said. Gupta revealed that he along with the other two suspects in the blast — Vishnu Prasad and Chandrashekhar Patidar — visited certain shops in Asansol and Jamtara and bought the mobile phone and SIM cards that triggered off the blast in Ajmer, sources said.
“Gupta has told his interrogators that top leaders of some right wing outfits, including Abhinav Bharat, were well aware about the plan. The CBI, which will soon file its ‘final report’ in Ajmer blast before the court, is likely to mention the names of several top leaders of right wing outfits whose names were disclosed by Devendra Gupta. Name of Swami Asimanand, alleged mastermind of Ajmer blast who is absconding, is likely to figure in the final report”, sources said. Devendra Gupta has reportedly revealed that Swami Asimanand and Sunil Joshi, who was murdered immediately after Ajmer blast, masterminded both the Malegaon and Ajmer blasts.
