Victim should have begged rapists: Asaram Bapu

New Delhi: Joining the growing list of loud mouths, self-styled godman Asaram Bapu on Monday took insensitivity to yet another foolish level by saying that the rape victim should have begged before the rapists to stop the heinous act. Media reports quoted Asaram Bapu, as saying: "Only 5-6 people are not the culprits. The victim daughter is as guilty as her rapists. She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop. This could have saved her dignity and life. Can one hand clap? I don't think so."His outrageous comment has drawn widespread criticism from political spectrum and social activists.It may be recalled that a scientist in MP had made a similar remark when she said the victim should have not resisted the rape in order to save her life.  Dr Anita Shukla, a scientist at the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, allegedly made these remarks at a seminar organised by the police on “Women’s Empowerment.”
