The Sundarbans in South 24 Parganas is highly vulnerable to climate change and according to an estimate 15 per cent of the region will be submerged by 2020. This was among the findings of the three District Human Development Reports. The districts covered by the survey were South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas and North
Dinajpur. The reports prepared with the technical support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Planning Commission were released by state planning and development minister Nirupam Sen on Monday. South and West Asia Division UNDP chief Fadzai Gwaradzimba has appreciated the work.
