Two students from West Bengal have won the silver and bronze medal respectively for India in the International Mathematics Olympiad 2010 finals held in Kazakhstan. Akashneel Datta from Barrackpore and Satyaki Mukherjee from Durgapur won among the six participants from India.
Akashneel is a Class 12 student of Barrackpore government school and Satyaki a Class 12 student of a Durgapur School. Both the students had appeared for the eastern India selection held at Indian Statistical Institute in December 2009. “They had to clear another selection process that was held at Mumbai for a training session which was conducted at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in Mumbai,” Akashneel’s mother said.
