The larger-than-life comic characters have always captured the fancy of many young minds, however in past few years the remarkable growth in the comic book industry has paved way for a new pop cult among fans in the country.
As a rendition to this rising trend, the third edition of Comic Con India convention started this weekend in the capital at Dilli Hatt. We check out what is in store for comicbook lovers at this one big party of comic characters.
With increased number of stalls and comic merchandise options, this year’s comic fest will also host the launch of ten titles in various categories. Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India, reveals, “We will have some of the best comic book and graphic novel publishers conducting workshops and lectures this year. There are big names likes Fantagraphics, Top Cow Productions, Self Made Hero, Drawn & Quarterly and Vertical Inc. etc, who will be a part of it.”
Jatin also mentioned that apart from all the regular fun activities, this time the Amar Chirta Katha stall will also retail products that are associated with a social cause. He says, “This time we are starting the ‘comic for a cause’ project. There will be iconic comic book covers, and exclusive lithographs and etchings available for sale at the Amar Chitra Katha stall for sale. The proceeds of which will go to NGO Nanhi Kali, which works for the education of girl child.”
