Stalker creates tension in airport

Chennai: Ernakulam’s Ameer Dhawa, 30, continues to torment the police in Chennai, who are worried he is ‘stalking’ Union minister P Chidambaram but cannot prove he has evil intentions. The Cochin-based travel company owner created tension once again at the airport here on Saturday when the police caught him “as he tried to rush towards the minister” when the latter arrived from Delhi and was walking towards his car.
The airport police pounced on Dhawa and let him go after a ‘severe war­ning’ telling him he should not be seen anywhere near the airport again. He told the police he had gone to the airport only to sign as per the bail condition and there was no intention to go anywhere near Mr Chidam­baram. It just happened by accident, Dhawa clai­med. The police told him that he need not go to the station to sign anymore and it was enough if he appeared in the court when summoned.
Dhawa is out on bail after being caught taking photographs of Mr Chida­mbaram at the airport on November 13. The minister then requested the Tamil Nadu police to let him go and he was let out on bail on December 14. But again, Dhawa was caught on December 24 trying to enter Mr Chida­mbaram’s house in Nung­a­mbakkam with his camera.
He was taken to Thousand Lights police station and let off late evening after grilling him. They warned him against trying such adventures, but again Dhawa caused tension for the Chennai cops now at the airport, and it involved Mr Chidambaram once more.
Earlier on October 3 last year, the man was caught taking pictures of the interior of the Boeing Drea­mliner aircraft after purchasing ticket to fly on it to Delhi with an onward connection to Dubai.
Poli­ce investigation at that time showed that he had bought those tickets just to take Dreamliner photos. Dhawa is running a travel company in Ernakulam and has told the police that he is interested in taking pictures of VIPs and important objects like the Dreamliner aircraft.
