Zila Ghaziabad may have been a commercial failure at the box office but up North, this Sanjay Dutt-Vivek Oberoi-Arshad Warsi starrer has done good business in single screen theatres. For director Anand Kumar this is still a small win in itself and he is now gearing up to finalise the cast of his next action flick Meerut Junction.
While there’s already a buzz about Abhishek Bachchan being approached for the lead role, it has now emerged that Anand is also thinking of roping in Anushka Sharma and Huma Qureshi as the leading ladies.
A source says, “Anushka has proven that she can play a small town girl really well. Right from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to Band Baaja Baaraat and the very recent Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, she has delivered convincing performances. Huma, on the other hand, has strong examples such as Gangs of Wasseypur and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana.” The source continues, “Anand’s film is set in Meerut and both Anushka and Huma have the ability to blend in with the small-town milieu really well.”
But considering Anushka is one of the top actresses in the industry and Huma too being much sought after these days, roping them for one film may be an ambitious idea. When contacted, Anand didn’t deny the developments, “Yes, I am reaching out to them. They are the best fit for my film.”
He sure needs some big tricks for his “small-town” girls.
