The Left Front has written to the state home secretary Basudeb Banerjee demanding administration’s intervention to stop the ongoing wave of violence against Left Front workers.
The two page letter was written by Left Front chairman and signed by leaders of all constituents of the front. Mr Bose has complained in the letter that retaliatory attacks against Left party offices and leaders and workers continued unabated even three days after the assault on finance minister Amit Mitra in Delhi.
“The Left parties have condemned the unwarranted Delhi incidents. However, as a pretext to that incident, the Trinamul Congress workers continue to physically assault CPI(M) and other Left leaders and workers, vandalise our party offices, damage and loot our vehicles. Many party leaders and workers are in hospitals,” the letter said.
Mr Bose has also lodged protest over the arrest of former Left Front minister Ashok Bhattacharya and 50 other party leaders and workers in Siliguri. He also pointed to the vandalism and violence unleashed Trinamul Chhatra Parishad workers at Presidency University.
The Left Front leaders also complained to the home secretary that their workers were being implicated in false cases and many of them have been forced to flee homes.
