With Couture Week starting today, big names in fashion fraternity are all set to put a magnificent show, and give a new meaning to “haute couture”. Out of 19 designers, 13 will have ramp shows, whereas the others will put up interesting installations. The two shows every night from July 20 to 25 are expected to be “extravagant” in terms of high-end creativity and skill. The participating designers are leaving no stone unturned to make this a successful event.
Designer Reynu Taandon, who’ll be showcasing a line based on the theme “Mynah opens its wings to couture” feels couture week is a branding excercise for any designer. She says, “We are expecting very good business. The timings of the shows are also perfect from the business point of view.”
Designer duo Mona Pali of the label Monapali are also looking forward for some lucrative deals in this exclusive fashion event. Pali says, “As a thumb rule each and every event gets you business. May be not immediately, but eventually in the long run it helps build a wider base of consumers.?We have customers, who’ve seen a bridal show a year ago and then when there is a wedding in the family after a?year they come and say ‘we saw your show earlier and would like to buy clothes from you’.? Direct or indirect buying always happens especially at a platform like DCW, where everyone is a potential customer for us.”
Delhi-based designer Manav Gangwani is also keeping his fingers crossed and working hard on his ramp collection “An Affairé to Remember”. He says, “I am sure that the show will be more than successful. It’s the first?couture week to be held here in the capital, and all my friends and clients are very enthusiastic about it. Definitely, business will be good. The venue is great?and the show timings are perfect too.” Though according to reports, shows are now beginning an hour earlier than before.
Kolkata-based designer Jaya Rathore is also expecting a great response from the couture week. She says, “It’s a big event and I’m sure the participating designers will be benefited. I will be putting up my limited edition of ensembles at the installations to highlight the different aspects of my creativity.”
