Spot fixing: BCCI ACSU recommends life ban on tainted trio

Delhi: According to TV reports, the anti-corruption unit of BCCI has recommended life ban on the tainted trio - S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - for their alleged role in spot fixing. BCCI ACSU has submitted its interim report to new board chief Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Besides, as the role of Rajasthan Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra in betting becomes apparent, reports say BCCI is considering debarring Kundra. Also, an emergeny meet has been called by the BCCI on June 9 or 10.
Earlier, Delhi Police sources have been quoted as saying that Umesh Goenka claimed that Rajasthan Royals' co-owner Shilpa Shetty also placed bets. New Delhi Police commissioner, Neeraj Kumar had stated that Raj Kundra has confessed to placing bets on matches played by the team he co-owns, Rajasthan Royals. Kundra, it is being alleged, admitted to placing bets. Kundra's business partner and friend, Umesh Goenka, placed bets on behalf of Kundra. However, he did not indulge in fixing, says sources. It has been alleged that he stated that had he fixed matches, he would have made a lot of money.
More trouble erupted for Raj Kundra, who was quizzed by the Delhi Police for close to ten hours on Wednesday. In the latest development in the probe, Delhi police has seized his passport. On Wednesday, he was interrogated along with his business partner, Goenka and Royals' bowler cum prosecution witness, Siddharth Trivedi. Delhi Police haven't given Kundra a clean chit and have not ruled out the possibility of his arrest. Kundra has been directed not to leave the country.
Police reports suggest that the Royals' co-owner had very little information to give regarding his team's players. When asked about the presence of unscrupulous characters around the team, it is believed that he said that the cricketers being mature individuals, needed to take care as to avoid trouble as far as possible.
