It’s all in the family for Deols

The Deols are back with what they are best at — tickling the funny bone. The audiences will be treated with loads of masti, mazaak, along with the usual dose of fighting the bad men and romancing the pretty babes in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2.

The film also stars actress Neha Sharma and marks the acting debut of Australian model Kristina Akheeva. The starcast of the film along with director Sangeeth Sivan was in the city to promote their film.
“We took some time to come up with a script for Yamla Pagla Deewana 2. We had an idea and we were working on the screenplay. The story moves to England but the characters remain the same. There is no link with the old story. It is very entertaining and I am sure fans will get to see everything in this film,”says Sunny Deol, who sported his look from the film, complete with the turban.
His father, Dharmendra was as lively as ever. Looking dapper in a summer suit, he put forth, “We had loads of fun shooting for the film, as the entire family was present including my grandson and daughter-in-law. In the film we also have an orangutan, who enters our lives and creates a ruckus. The situations created thereafter, are hilarious.”
Sunny Deol’s son, Karan has worked in the film as an assistant director. How was it working with him? “It was an emotional moment for me. I realised that he is a grown-up guy now. The song, I will dance like this only was his gift on my birthday, which fell around the time we were working on the film. We decided to include it in the film. He has sung the rap bit of the song in the film. He will soon be making his acting debut as well,” informs Sunny.
Talking about his role in the film, Bobby adds, “All of us get to do all aspects of a masala flick. We make people laugh with our antics, perform loads of action and romance. None of us are restricted to any particular segment.”
Actress Neha Sharma is visibly excited about acting with the Deols. “It is a huge film for me. I get to act with three superstars. It was an overwhelming experience for me. Dharamji is like a father figure for me. He was very encouraging on the sets. In an emotional scene from the film, I saw the warm side of Sunny and Bobby,” she smiles. She adds that the entire experience felt like a paid holiday with the family.
Sangeeth Sivan, who has earlier directed comic capers like Apna Sapna Money Money and Kya Kool Hai Hum, has wielded the directorial baton for YPD 2. He says, “I have tried to retain the core of the original film. However, we also had to expand the base of the franchise and engage newer audience. The first step in that direction was to make it more contemporary. Also, the music has been created to suit the milieu of urban audience.”
