Congress president Sonia Gandhi reconstituted her team on Sunday, the same day that the BJP-led NDA split on the issue of secularism. She has brought Ms Ambika Soni back into the AICC set-up and has made Mr Ajay Maken, Dr C.P. Joshi and Mr Gurudas Kamat AICC general secretaries.
Mr Ahmed Patel remains Mrs Gandhi‘s political secretary while Ms Ambika Soni is now general secretary in charge of the Congress President’s Office. Mr Maken will lead the media war against the BJP’s Mr Narendra Modi.
The immediate task before Mr Kamat, Mr Mohan Prakash and Mr Shakeel Ahmed is to check the BJP in Rajasthan, MP and Delhi as AICC general secretaries in charge of these states, which go to the polls in November-December this year.
