Three centuries and two six-wicket hauls were the highlights of Thursday’s action in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s A-1 division three-day league matches. Akash Bhandari, Akshath Reddy and Y. Chaitanya Krishna hit a hundred each while Aniketh Redkar and Basha turned in superb spells with the ball.
Deccan Chronicle’s Akash Bhandari was the biggest performer.
He smashed 29 boundaries and a six to hit 161 in just 192 balls against Evergreen. At the other end, Akshath Reddy turned the heat on with a 137-ball 101 that included 19 fours as DC piled up 386 for 6 on Day One.
Chaitanya Krishna was the other performer with the bat. He hit an unbeaten 102 in 126 balls (14x4, 1x6) as BDL replied to India Cements’ 244 with 337 for 2 on the second day.
In another match, offspinner Basha spun a web around Falaknuma by taking 6 wickets for 67 runs to restrict them to 181. South Central Railway replied with 78 for 2 by close on the first day.
Aniketh was the other offspinner who did well. He figures of 21.1-7-51-6 were instrumental in R. Dayanand gaining a slender five-run lead over Ensconse, who were all out for 219.
Benjamin Thomas of EMCC and Tanmay Agarwal of Ensconse were unlucky to miss out on centuries. They were out for 98 and 89 respectively .
