‘I love creating soft numbers’

His song Paani Da Rang Vekh Ke from last year’s surprise hit Vicky Donor became a love anthem for GenY. The soulful ballad with meaningful lyrics reinforced faith in melody and harmony for many. His second film, Nautanki Saala, also had two tracks sung and composed by him.

Ayushmann Khurrana loves crooning and composing tracks. In the city for the launch of Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor to be aired on 92.7 Big FM, the actor enthralled audiences with his songs and vast knowledge about Bollywood music.
“Singing and composing are both my passions and I am thankful that I am getting a chance to pursue them in my films along with acting. I love creating soft and melodious numbers,” said the former RJ and TV anchor. The actor reveals that he loved to write, especially in Hindi, since his college days. He has even written stories and plays in school and college.
Talking about his break in Bollywood, the actor puts forth, “Although many people ask me about my choice of debut, I actually waited for the right kind of film to come my way. In television, I got a chance to have fun and be myself. But in films, I wanted to do a movie which is intelligent, has a message and is not heavy dose. Vicky Donor fitted the bill.”
Although his second film, Nautanki Saala failed to create much impact, the actor is positive about his upcoming films. “I am quite optimistic about Humara Bajaj, in which I reunite with the Vicky Donor team and Yashraj’s upcoming flick opposite Sonam Kapoor,” adds Khurrana.
The actor has a special place for Delhi in his heart, he reveals. “Since I have grown up in Chandigarh, I find the culture of the city very similar to Delhi. So obviously I feel at home in the capital.”
