Hyderabad: Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy may have to make a trip to New Delhi within the next 10 days to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to finalise proposals including resh-uffling of the Cabinet, nomination of four MLCs and filling up posts for chairmen to various government corporations.
The meeting with Gandhi should have been held on Thursday, but had to be postponed due to non-availability of in-charge general secretary Digvijay Singh who had to go to Madhya Pradesh to attend some urgent personal work.
According to sources close to the Chief Minister, Reddy had a four-hour discussion on various issues pertaining to the state with Digvijay Singh.
As per practice, the respective in-charge of a particular state needs to brief the Congress president about the proposals and have a detailed discussion before “decisions” are finalised. Only then is the Chief Minister called for a meeting with the Congress president and the decisions conveyed.
During his meeting with Digvijay Singh, CM Kiran Kumar Reddy is said to have put forth all his proposals including reshuffle of the state Cabinet, names for considering to fill up four MLC posts, appointment of chairmen to various corporations etc.
The Chief Minister is also said to have discussed statehood for Telangana in detail, which has been pending for the last three and half years. Digvijay Singh reportedly told the Chief Minister that “appropriate decisions” on the proposals might take some time as he will be able to meet the Congress president only after some time due to his pre-occupations.
Singh is slated to be in the state between June 30 and July 1 to attend some private functions and meet the Congress leaders.
