2-member TN team to discuss NLC stake sale with Centre

Chennai: Even as NLC staff entered the seventh day, the TN government on Tuesday, according to sources, has appointed a team comprising two senior officials including finance secretary to deliberate with the Union government pertaining to transferring of 5 per cent stake in NLC to state PSUs.
Finance secretary K. Shanmugam has been appointed nodal officer to hold dialogue with the officials of the market regulator, SEBI, and other departments. “He will be assisted by a senior offici­al, perhaps, from planning and special initiatives de­partment,” said a source rubbishing the reports that finance minister O. Pann­eer­selvam wo­uld accompany the officials.
The TN team is expected to visit New Delhi shortly. Though the government has been contemplating to purchase the stocks through a consortium of state PSUs, nothing concrete has emerged as of now.
“These aspects will come to the table for discussion only after the meeting with union officials.”
