With the new academic session about to commence soon, DU youngsters are all set to flaunt their latest gadgets including expensive smartphones, tabs, cameras and other cool music accessories among others. Not just are the gadgets expensive and the latest models, but the students are also experimenting with shades and colours. Most are skipping black and white colours in gadgets and accessories and instead opting for the brighter shades of purple, yellow and red gizmos. We speak to some of the students about their cool collection.
“Once the colleges reopen, there will hardly be any time to chill out with friends. To beat the monotony, I am busy updating the playlist on my recently purchased iPad mini that cost around `20,000. I am also downloading some popular sitcoms like Two and a Half Men, Madmen and Everybody Loves Raymond on my iPad to watch while I am on my way to college,” shares Jyotika Chaudhary, a IInd year English (Hons) student at Gargi College.
For tech-savvy Raghav Gupta, a IInd year student at Sri Venkateshwara College, online shopping has made the purchase of gadgets easier. “I keep browsing through Flipkart, HomeShop 18 and other such online sites to keep myself updated about the latest gadgets and their specifications. After a boring lecture, some good music is a must, so I recently ordered a pair of Snenheiser headphones. It looks cool to roam around in the campus with headphones hanging by your neck or ear or hands. I feel a good headset accessory enhances the quality of your phone.”
For Poonam Chalai, a fresher at Miranda House, it is not just the dressing sense that counts, one must also be updated about the cool gizmos that add to your personality. “I love bright and funky headphones and I have phone-covers in multiple shades that I got from Connaught Place to match with my dresses. I keep changing my phone covers according to my moods,” says Poonam.
Vidushi Khanna, a IInd year student at Hansraj College, likes observing co-passengers in the Metro for a fair idea about the latest trends in gadgets. Ask her about her collection and she will surprise you, “Apart from an Android phone, I have an apple iPad and since college is about to reopen, I thought of updating my collection and got an iPad mini, which is handier and can easily fit into my stylish sling bag. I keep observing my co-passengers in the Metro, which helps me in picking up the latest trends.”
Apart from stylish smartphones, expensive DSLRS and neon-coloured digital cameras are high on the wish list of college-goers. “I am keen to learn photography and explore some interesting spots around the college campus with my friends and seniors. For a long time, I had been saving my pocket money, and finally purchased a red-coloured Nikon D3100 SLR camera that cost around `25,000,” shares Radhika Khanna, a fresher at Kamla Nehru College.
