New Delhi, July 26: More than two years after the wife of slain private secretary of former Jharkhand CM, Mr Shibu Soren, moved the Supreme Court to challenge the acquittal of the JMM supremo in the murder of her husband, the SC finally admitted her appeal on Monday.
Though the SC had issued notice on the special leave petition of Ms Pryambada Devi on March 14, 2008 ,challenging Mr Soren’s acquittal in her husband’s murder, the admission of her appeal was deferred due to alleged attempt by Mr Soren’s lawyers to delay the hearing.
Ms Devi’s counsel, Mr K. Sunil, said “the admission of her SLP came after 13 adjournments sought by the other side since March 14, 2008.” Admission of the appeal came as blow to Mr Soren, especially when the CBI had not filed any appeal against the 2007 order of the Delhi HC acquitting him and five others.
