Art throbs for Uttarakhand

Everything done in good faith gets a good response, feel the artists who are a part of “A Brand New Day — Rebuilding Uttarakhand”, an exhibition organised by CAMERAunLIMITED and Art@IndianAugust in collaboration with Goonj. Thirty-five photographers and artists are showcasing their artwork at IndianAugust gallery to raise funds for relief operations in Uttarakhand.
Speaking about the event, photographer Ravi Dhingra says the idea of the exhibition germinated when a group of photographers decided to make active contribution. “We all wanted to do something for the state but holding individual exhibitions may not have created as much impact as a group exhibition does. So, we decided to bring together all the interested artists and planned “A Brand New Day” with Goonj, who we all feel are genuinely working to rebuild Uttarakhand,” says Ravi who is putting up eight frames for sale.
“And the best part about this exhibition is that none of the artists are taking any money for the artworks sold. The entire proceeds will go to Goonj,” he adds.
This exhibition is unlike any other exhibition Nin Taneja has been part of, for it is giving her personal satisfaction. “I opted to showcase my work here only because I feel the money will go to the right people and through the proper channel. Besides this, some of my existing artwork connected so well with the theme. The paintings I am showcasing here are portrayals of mother earth in her best form. It’s a sigh of hope,” shares Nin.
Former actress and now a photographer, Moushumee K. Jha says, “Prior to this, I had given my work for exhibitions to raise funds for floods in Guwahati and Bihar. It gives me personal satisfaction to do my bit for mankind. God had been kind that my hobby (photography) will come in use of needy people.”
Photographer Gaurav Arora says this effort will generate positive vibes. “All of us are optimistic that our efforts will be received well and more and more people will be inspired to contribute for the cause. We can already feel the positive vibe,” ends Gaurav.
