A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on alleged kidnapping charges and sent to the Dongri correction home for eloping with two minor girls, including his girlfriend. All the three minors are residents of Ketakipada slum in Dahisar (east).
On July 16 at around 9.30 pm, accused Rajesh Chavan (name changed as he is a minor)
took his 17-year-old girlfriend and her 13-year-old sister for a trip to Khandala without taking the prior permission of their parents or family members, according to the Dahisar police.
When the girls were nowhere to be found, their parents rushed to the Dahisar police station where a case of kidnapping was registered on July 17. According to the Supreme Court, in case a minor aged below 14 years goes missing, the local police should promptly register a case of kidnapping.
Senior police inspector, Ansar Peerzade of Dahisar police station said, “After spending three days in Khandala, the trio returned home. The family of the girls has said that apart from kidnapping they don’t want to pursue the case further. The boy was produced before a magistrate’s court and was sent to Dongri correction home. ”

Mayor attends bmc health camp in city
Mumbai: Mayor Sunil Prabhu on Sunday visited health camps organised by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at various places in the city. “These free camps play a major role in controlling vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue during monsoon,” he said. The civic body on Sunday had arranged free health camps at nine places across the city. Mayor visited these camps and also praised the efforts of civic health department officials for their successful organisation. More than 12,000 people have taken benefit of these weekly camps since the beginning of monsoon. “Since these camps are held on Sunday, majority of people are benefited from them,” said the mayor.
