Couturier creates magic with crafts

The fifth edition of the Tarun Tahiliani couture exposition opened doors for the patrons at the DLF Emporio mall, where the veteran showcased his latest bridal line. Tarun’s luxurious trousseau was displayed among the opulent Osler chandeliers flown specially from Mumbai by Munchi Shroff of Ancestry.
Tarun has also designed seven pieces of 22 carat gold ornaments in association with Azva jewellery for this exposition. The mannequins at the exhibition display garments from his three different lines — the gold collection, the enchanted forest and the man of hour — which include bridal wear for both men and women.
Speaking about the latest line of bridal wear, Tarun mentioned how this time he has used old techniques with a twist for the modern brides. The designer, says, “The highlight of this year’s exposition are the four Cs — couture, crystal, craft and carat. The lightness and wearability factor has been specially kept in mind while designing the ensembles, for me that's true sophistication. The garments have are inspired by the rich history of our country, yet they are effervescent and sit lightly on one’s skin. They take you back to the age of excess where the hallmark of genuine Indian trousseau is the painstaking made-by-hand details, the ornate embroidery and the intricate threadwork that is incorporated in this couture collection.”
Elaborating more on the technical and themes used on these creations, Tarun adds, “We have used the ivory silk threads to create paneled kurtas with opals, pearls and other Swarovski crystals. Whereas, the saris are done in antique gold and silver, accentuated by zardozi and brocade.”
Whereas, speaking about Azva’s association with Tarun Tahiliani couture exposition, Vipin Sharma, director, World Gold Council, mentions, “Tarun Tahiliani for Azva is an exclusive collection of 22 karat gold bridal jewellery, inspired by seven vows. The collection brings together exquisite designs by couturier Tarun Tahiliani. This collection comprises sets of necklace, earrings and bracelet ensembles, which will be showcased at the India Bridal Fashion Week in the capital.”
