The stalemate on the abrupt and premature adjournment of the Monsoon Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on July 11 continues as state governor Ramnaresh Yadav, instead of signing on the note-sheet forwarded by the chief minister and Vidhan Sabha Speaker to ratify the adjournment, has chosen to write to the state government asking that the Assembly be reconvened.
According to an expert handling legislative affairs in the state Assembly, the governor’s signature is required before issuing the notification declaring that the House has been adjourned sine die. Without the notification, the House cannot be treated as adjourned, he pointed out.
Reports here said that the governor has shot a letter to the state government asking that the House be reconvened following his meeting with state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday evening.
State minister for legislative Affairs Narottam Mishra had also met the governor a day before. Raj Bhavan officials here were tightlipped when asked to verify reports about the governor’s letter to the state government.
