In a twist to the Sohrabuddin saga, eight police officers in jail for their involvement in the fake encounter case challenged the decision of police officer N.K. Amin to turn an approver in the case. Dr Amin has filed an application with the local court seeking permission to turn approver provided he is pardoned. The CBI is also okay with his turning into an approver.
However, the architect of fake encounters, super cop D.G. Vanzara and seven other police officers also involved in this case has challenged his application. They have contended that he is as much a criminal and accused as they are and he should not be given a chance to turn an approver or be pardoned for his crime.
Meanwhile, Dr Amin had sought a transfer from Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad where he is housed with his other police colleagues involved in the case. He had sought a jail transfer contending that he feared for his life and was certain to be killed by Vanzara and gang for speaking out the truth. However, a local court rejected his jail transfer application and also his bail plea. The court said if Dr Amin feared for his life from his colleagues, he should be given more protection, but kept in the same jail.
Meanwhile the CBI summoned the owner of Arham Farm, where alleged gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausarbi were kept for questioning in connection with the fake encounter case.
“Rajendra Jirawala has been arrested. The CBI sought his remand which was rejected by a local CBI court. In another related development Amit Shah got a copy of his charge sheet,” sources said.

CM reassigns portfolios of Amit Shah

July 27: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday distributed portfolios handled by former minister Amit Shah, who is now in jail facing murder charge in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
Mr Modi has kept home department with him while jail, law and justice and parliamentary affairs have been given to Dilip Sanghani, who already hold agriculture and animal husbandry.
Finance minister Vajubhai Vala has got transport department in addition to finance while rest of the departments like minister of state for agriculture and health Parbat Patel has been handed over other departments like civil defence, prohibition, border security and others.
