IPL Spot fixing: Probe or BCCI charade

The verdict of the probe on IPL spot-fixing scandal set up by the BCCI is out in the open and I guess not many people in this country will be surprised with the present state of affairs. This was always on the cards and people who did not see it coming are the ones who still think that S Sreesanth can come back into the Indian side and play the 2015 World Cup which he, more than anybody else seems to believe. At the end of the day, people will have to agree to the fact that the likes of Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chanvan have changed the game of glorious uncertainities into a game of inglorious certainities.
The BCCI's two-member internal panel comprising former judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian submitted a report in which “there is no evidence of any wrongdoing against Raj Kundra, India Cements and Rajasthan Royals,“ according to BCCI vice-president Niranjan Shah.
This effectively means that N Srinivasan could be back as president of the Indian cricket board as early as Friday, August 2 at the BCCI's next working committee meeting in New Delhi. An individual who thinks that people are jealous of him and CSK because they have Mahendra Singh Dhoni is like Vinod Kambli contemplating on his failed career by saying that people were jealous of him because Sachin Tendulkar was his close friend.
Well, there are more reasons to be jealous of Srinivasan's power and the way he manipulates people; so full credit should be given to him for devising such a meticulous plan to come out squeaky clean in order to facilitate his re-election as BCCI president.
Members constituing the probe panel were appointed by the BCCI and the credibility of the report has no legal standing which makes it questionable. The report will be forwarded to the IPL governing council and the members of that body will take the final decision which, one would wager, is going to run along mundanely predictable lines.
The Mumbai Police seem to be surprised over the fact that a procedural hitch has been turned into a green signal but little do they know that this is how the BCCI is suppose to work.
The IPL spot-fixing scandal has all the elements of a bollywood blockbuster where the guy at the helm of affairs steps aside considering all the allegations levelled against him and comes back in the most heroic fashion.
We live in a world where corruption is a part of life and a honest man is a liability. So it will not be much of a surprise if everything is brushed under the carpet but it is important for us and the people of the country to know the truth and for that to happen we need to wait a little longer as the Delhi and Mumbai police are yet to complete their investigations into the fixing scandal.
But that does not change the fact that till the time vested interests rules over the interest of players and the game nothing can change in Indian sports.
