Thirty-nine schoolgirls of Shirpur town in the Dhule district were hospitalised after taking government supplied
ferrous sulphate tablets on Tuesday evening.
The girls have been reported as stable and 15 of them were discharged after the treatment.
The girls from HR Kanya Shala aged between 11 and 14 took the tablets at around 4 pm. After a while, they complained of body stiffness, dizziness, giddyness and vomiting and were
admitted to the government-run Cottage Hospital in Shirpur at around 5.15 pm.
Speaking to The Asian Age, medical officer Dr Suwarna Ugale said that the girls were stable. “The tablets were supplied by Cottage Hospital.
Generally, these tablets are taken on full stomach. On an empty stomach, they can cause problems,” she said.
It may be recalled that on May 9, 21 students of the Government High School in Abohar (Punjab) were also hospitalised following severe abdominal pain after taking ferrous sulphate tablets.

Scuba diving camp for ncc cadets from july 11
Mumbai: A scuba diving camp for NCC cadets was undertaken from July 11 to July 31, 2013 at the Western Naval Command Swimming pool.
Navy, Army and Air wing cadets from all the seven groups of Maharashtra Mumbai ‘A’, ‘B’, Pune, Amravati, Kolhapur, Nagpur and Aurangabad participated in the camp.
The cadets demonstrated scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming with fins, underwater diving, night diving, familiarisation and entry/ exit from life raft drills. The diving camp was organised by 1 Maharashtra Naval Unit NCC Mumbai, under the aegis of the Maharashtra NCC Directorate and it is being conducted with professional expertise drawn from the Navy’s Command Clearance Diving team (CCDT).
