The state Legislative Assembly has directed a probe into the construction of a 23-storey tower at Bhoiwada, Parel under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority scheme.
Under this scheme, M/s Omkar Realtors and Developers have undertaken the redevelopment of the Sanjay Gandhi Smruti Colony at Parel, which has a population of 2,000-2,500. However, legislators alleged that the developer has carried out illegal constructions by violating rules.
Raising the issue in the Assembly, Shiv Sena MLA Abhijeet Adsul alleged that the developer was only given permission to construct 16-storey buildings.
He said, “However, the developer has constructed three towers with 23 storeys each under the SRA scheme. While doing this, he has also encroached upon the plots reserved for various purposes like municipal school, BEST receiving station and recreational ground.”
