India is the champion of One Day Internationals, having won the 2011 World Cup beating Sri Lanka in the final. With the great run of form in ODIs currently, India looks favourites to retain the title when the World Cup will be held in 2015 in Australia and New Zealand. However, sports lovers would might be torn between cricket and Formula 1 as India GP is scheduled to be held during the same time in 2015.
Keeping this concern in mind, here's two fans of cricket and Formula 1 pour their heart out in support of their respective sport.
Cricket:
 
It’s the uncertainties in cricket that makes the sports so loved all over India. Like a Bollywood masala flick, this gentleman’s game, with its shares of drama and nail-biting climaxes when a match goes down the wire, will continue to thrive in a cricket-crazy country like India.
The nail-biting finish at the recent tri-series final between India and Sri Lanka in the Caribbean is what a cricket lover wants – a competitive match that makes every ball and over worth watching. With a great finisher such as Dhoni, India holds an edge over other countries in the 50-over format. With three consecutive titles in the bag in this format recently, India is favourites to retain the title in 2015 World Cup.
Talking about what makes a fan stick to cricket despite the furore over spot fixing is the sense of unity that this sport brings to the nation. When the Indian captain MS Dhoni slammed the six off Sri Lankan Nuwan Kulasekara’s bowling in World Cup 2011 final to ring a historic triumph, it brought the whole of India, irrespective of religion, caste, colour, together to celebrate a moment which they might never witness it again.
That’s the power of cricket and the happiness it brings when the home country triumphs in a major tournament is just non-comparable with any other victory for a cricket fan.
Not to forget the role played by cricketing greats such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. After having carried the hopes and expectations of a billion people during their cricketing career, they continue to inspire generations who want to be one like them. In a country which doesn't boast much of sporting legends, these cricketing greats deserve praise for the way they have carried on and off the field.
For a cricket fan, this sport gives the ultimate high watching Team India battle all odds and come out triumph on the cricketing field.

Formula One:

There is nothing like watching you favourite sport from the stands and of all sporting events, nothing compares to watching a Formula One race from the grandstands. There is nothing that measures up to, forget surpass, the fast, nail-biting action of the sport that celebrates the marriage of man and machine — Formula One. I still remember the first time I attended a Formula One race — the exhilaration when the five red lights turned off and I could hear the deep rumble of the cars as they made their way around the circuit.
Watching the race from the stands is not by any measure cheap. A weekend pass to the Indian GP will set you back by a few thousands depending on where you want to watch the race from. The grandstands at the start finish line will cost Rs 30,000 and covered stands located around the track cost Rs 15,000. There are uncovered stands for less and picnic areas for even less but even the cheapest spot will cost two or three thousand.
When a race runs for a maximum of two hours, spending even as little as two thousand rupees means spending a thousand rupees per hour to watch a race you could have viewed from the comfort of your home for free. But as a person who has watched both Indian GP races so far from the stands, I guarantee you, you get more than your money’s worth.
Even if you choose to watch races on TV, they tend to be far more exciting that cricket. While Test matches last five days, with something exciting happening once or twice an hour, a Formula One race, lasting just two hours, generally never has a dull minute. From race start to chequered flag, the race will be packed tight with gutsy overtaking manoeuvres, death-defying crashes, and lightning-fast pit stops. Formula One is not just about the car or the driver. It is about the amalgamation of the two and the team’s strategy to get the duo across the finish line as fast as possible. Given the choice between watching a cricket match all day and a Formula One race for two hours, I would choose the race every time.
