The city government is likely to add 116 more services under the e-service legal agreement (e-SLA), a time bound service for citizens of Delhi.
A senior official claimed that till June-July 2013, the Delhi government has disposed off around 55 lakh cases (consumer complaints against government officials for delay in services) of various departments. According to senior department officials, the government’s initiative of eSLA is more effective and powerful than the much-hyped Lokpal Bill.
“The chief minister has asked senior officials of around 116 departments to table a presentation about bringing their services under the e-SLA. The Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act, 2011 was brought in public domain on September 15, 2011. There is no need to appoint someone from outside or create new posts or waste money to bring transparency. The SLA bounds every government servant to dispose off the file in the required period of time,” said the officer.
If anyone complains about delay in service, any officer can be easily found for holding the file for more than the required time and will be liable to pay the fine per day.
“Currently around 116 services have been brought under e-SLA. Any person can easily file a complaint from home against any department by logging on the website esla.delhigov.in,” said a senior official.
Many departments are preparing framework for the presentation for e-SLA as soon as possible. According to the law, in case of failing in time bound service, the concerned official will be fined `10 to `200 per day per application and the money will be granted to the appellant.
With the Assembly elections schedules this year, the city government is mulling to bring more services under e-SLA.
