In a bid to counter the anti-incumbency factor and the offensive of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP, the Sheila Dikshit government is planning to flaunt its achievements during 15 years of its regime in the capital.
Sources close to the chief minister said that officials have been told to publish the data as soon as possible.
“The concerned department officials are working day and night and gathering every possible data to publish a booklet showcasing the excellent work of the city government in last 15 years. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit has emphasised on publishing the data by this Independence Day. However, if the data is not ready by then, it will be published any time before the code of conduct for the upcoming Assembly polls comes into force,” said a senior Delhi government officer.
Sources say that the chief minister also wants to counter the “Modi development model” effectively with the “Sheila development model”.
The CM wants the data to be out in public soon as the AAP and BJP have been attacking the government relentlessly over power, water and women’s security. “The booklet will enlist the major achievements of the Congress government and will be compared with the works of opposition governments in other states. Delhi Metro, roads and flyovers, schemes for people belonging to BPL, pensions for senior citizens, widows and eunuchs, e-SLA, subsidy on power and LPG and many other major achievements of the government will be highlighted in the booklet,” the official said.
When asked about the BJP and AAP’s attacks on power tariff, the official said that the government has brought down the outages to almost zero and this will also be highlighted.
“Delhi is providing more jobs than any other state, which proves that it is developing faster than any other state. Delhi also tops the chart with highest per person yearly income in the country. The data will prove that there is no other better state government than the Delhi government,” the official added.
