Anti-Telangana strike: Andhra Pradesh government to stop pay

Hyderabad: The state government on Saturday decided to implement the Government Order issued in 2011, initiating disciplinary action and the ‘No Work No Pay’ rule, against Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGO) who are on strike against the decision to bifurcate the state.
The government has also invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act on certain services of the finance department.
However, the APNGOs remained unperturbed as they continued their agitation in Andhra and Rayalaseema.
The GO prohibiting employees from participating in agitations comes into force with immediate effect at the Secretariat, district collectorates and government offices.
The government said that salaries will be paid only to those who resume work and action to be initiated against those who sign the muster without attending duty.
Agitations against the bifurcation of the state entered its 18th day in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
Former minister for forests S. Vijayarama Raju, participated in a rally in Srikakulam. Prakasam district also witnessed massive protests.
An effigy of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao was burnt in Ongole by private doctors. Participating in a rally, Nuzvid MLA C. Ramakotaiah condemned the arrest of Telugu Desam leader Devineni Uma-maheshwar Rao, who was headed to begin his indefinite fast, and alleged that the Centre and state government were trying to suppress the agitations. Hunger strikes and rallies were held across the region.
In Guntur, MLA D. Narendra Kumar launched an indefinite hunger strike; TD MLAs G.V. Anajaneyulu, Y. Srinivasa Rao and MLC N. Rajakumari have put off their hunger strike to Monday.
In Nellore, all employees of the collectorate, except the collector and joint collectors, participated in a huge rally. A complete bandh was observed in Anantapur.
