However, many of them look for platforms to put across their videos on YouTube, get more traffic on it, distribute and market their music. Nirvana Tunes plans to look into all these and promote the independent music scene.
“With the independent music scene showing brilliant growth, it is essential to provide an avenue for singers, bands and musicians or any video content owner a chance to earn revenue from platforms such as YouTube, Apple iTunes and Amazon. Not just monetary gains, it is essential to popularise their music, direct traffic from other relevant musicians’ videos and build a community for all music content owners,” explains Pinakin Thakkar, a former advertising and marketing professional and the brain behind Nirvana.
Not just a virtual platform, Nirvana will also offer a studio setting with complete infrastructure to musicians to record their videos. Musicians can also monitor the kind of response their videos get. “Video content owners are also able to identify fan-uploaded videos, track them and earn revenue from the views on them,” he adds.
Apart from amateur artistes and bands, established names like Parikrama and Them Clones have also signed up for digital distribution with Nirvana. “Besides enabling monetisation, we will also showcase top performing videos on our YouTube channel, which will eventually become a destination for the best music from India,” he says.
