Army Public School of Noida defeated Mayur Vihar’s Ahlcon Public School 2-0 in a knockout match of the second edition of the Airtel Rising Stars-Delhi leg at the Commonwealth Games Village in the capital on Sunday.
Abhindya opened the scoring for Army Public School in the 18th minute, while Anand (32nd) sealed the issue for the Noida-based school.
In another knockout match at the same ground, ASN Public School of Mayur Vihar pipped St. Francis School, Indirapuram, 5-4 in penalty shootout after being locked goalless in regulation time. Ritik, Pratik, Anshul, Anuj and Digvijay materialised all the five attempts for ASN Public School, while P. Rodrigues, Durjan, Siddharth and Amit struck for St. Francis School.
Later, Ghaziabad’s Ryan International School beat Balloon Public School, also from Ghaziabad, 4-3 via penalty shootout. Dhruv, Abhishek, Aditya Singh and Jayant scored for Ryan International School even as Vikrant, Kishan and Vinay salvaged the pride for Balloon Public School.
